Brief Church History
This ministry was planted by Apostle James L. Moore, Sr. in 1983, in Fredericksburg, VA, and established by Bishop Joseph D. Henderson, Sr. as the “Tower of Deliverance Church”. We have journeyed to several church locations throughout the city of Fredericksburg, our main locations being in the Downtown Fredericksburg area and the Bragg Hill Community.
Upon holy union in 1984, Pastor Doris Henderson joined alongside in ministry to advance the Kingdom Agenda of God. Since then, they have both served faithfully in ministry, building the church, developing programs for outreach, training and discipling leadership for kingdom service, and attending to the needs of the community at large.
In early years, the ministry quickly became known for fire revival tent crusades, powerful spirit-filled church services, and impactful community outreach. The church also became known as a place of healing, deliverance, restoration, worship, and praise. Word began to spread that there is “Power At The Tower”.
Tower of Deliverance Church was first located in a small white building on Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg, VA. As the vision and membership continued to grow, the ministry was eventually moved to a store front located on Fall Hill Avenue in the Bragg Hill Community.
In the early 1990’s, the church relocated from a store front in the Bragg Hill community to the seven eleven building located at 1808 Princess Anne Street. There the ministry continued to build and flourish.
Although the ministry was now located downtown, there was still an underlining hunger to reach the community, especially in the Bragg Hill area. In efforts to strengthen community outreach, in 1997, Bishop Joseph Henderson, Sr. and Pastor Doris Henderson established The Family Life Center, located in the heart of the community, with a mission to address the needs of at-risk youth and economically underprivileged families and individuals in the City of Fredericksburg and its surrounding areas. This outreach ministry of the church, continued to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the community, focusing on building people and a better tomorrow and still stands strong today.
In the early 2000's, after an extensive building fund project, the Princess Anne Church location was reconstructed, no longer with the looks of a seven eleven building, but now a brick modeled structure with a tower standing tall. The Tower of Deliverance Church positioned in unity, ready to continue building the Kingdom of God.
Many people have been impacted by Bishop Joseph Henderson, Sr., Pastor Doris Henderson, and The Tower of Deliverance Church over the many years of ministry and service. Several ministry and community leaders have been birthed under the ministry of “The Tower”. A multitude of people have been impacted by the kingdom services exhibited through this ministry down through the years.
Continuing to serve the Kingdom of God, making a kingdom impact, in 2015, Bishop Joseph Henderson, Sr. and Pastor Doris Henderson were lead of The Spirit to change the name of the church from “Tower of Deliverance Church” to, now “Kingdom Family Worship Center” and to transition the church from downtown Fredericksburg to the outreach ministry location, the Family Life Center. The church relocated back to the heart of the community in obedience to the will of God. We stand today as a ministry established to advance the Kingdom Agenda of God. We are a people called to serve God, to serve the Kingdom, to serve the Ministry, to serve the Church, and to serve the Community. After forty years of service to the Kingdom of God, we anticipate continuing to make a Kingdom Impact in the lives of many near and far. We appreciate our history, celebrating where God has brought us from, as we serve the kingdom every day, in pursuit of His will and the promises that he has set before us. We Are Kingdom Family Worship Center.
