Ministry Biography
Bishop Joseph D. Henderson, Sr. operates as the Bishop and Lead Servant of Kingdom Family Worship Center, located in Fredericksburg, VA. He is one who walks with kingdom authority, anointed as a General in this hour, called to the overseeing and the governing of affairs in the Kingdom of God. Bishop Henderson serves compassionately, developing and empowering kingdom leaders on local, state, and national levels, teaching strategies to holistically build ministry, leaders, communities, and churches, thus paving the way to effectively building the Kingdom of God. He is a visionary, a man of wisdom and authority, one called into kingdom service for such a time as this. He is known as a pioneering leader, a family man, one who contains a wealth of knowledge.
Bishop Henderson is celebrating over forty years of marriage with Dr. Doris Henderson. They have four children: Danielle, Ashley, Joseph, Jr., and Benjamin. They have seven grandchildren: David, J. Daniel, Jeremiah, Lillian, Laila, Brielle Joy, and Lewis Ray. A family that prays together, stays together. This is indeed a family called to kingdom service, embracing the call to ministry, surrendering gifts, talents, and assignments back to God, that He may receive all of the Glory.
Bishop Henderson answered the call into ministry at the early age of fourteen and has been serving in various capacities of ministry since that time. He brings a lifetime of experience to the table and has served in virtually every area of ministry development. He has spent his life building relationships between people of different denominational, racial & economic backgrounds.
Bishop Henderson is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He was educated in Richmond Public Schools and furthered his studies at Virginia Union University and the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College. After many years of experiential learning through church and community engagement, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Shiloh Theological Seminary. In 2021, he also received an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Cornerstone College of Virginia.
He was consecrated into the Bishopric in September 2003, under the tutelage of his father in the gospel, Apostle James L. Moore, Sr. He currently serves on the board of Bishops of the United Holy Church of America, Inc. He is also the founder and Lead Coach for the Kingdom Fellowship Network, established in 2018, summiting leaders together for coaching, development, empowerment, resources, fellowship, and networking.
Bishop Henderson is the Founder and Executive Director of The Family Life Center, established with a mission to address the needs of the community at large, purposed for outreach and community engagement. This non-profit organization served, and continues to serve, as a model for many other agencies. When others in the city were unsure of how to engage culture and to be proactive within the community, under his leadership, his team strategized and developed creative program designs and skillful use of resources that yielded tremendous success. As a Community Leader and an influential example to others, he has served on many boards and organizations, striving to make a difference in the community at large.
Bishop Henderson serves as a Faith-based Initiatives Strategist for Non-Profit Organizations, Ministries, Corporations and Government Agencies. He has spent over 30 years of his life dealing with issues involving the family, especially youth development. He has served, and continues to serve, as a Board Member to many Faith and Community Organizations, such as the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, the Tower of Deliverance Ministries, Inc., and Moss Free Clinic. He has also received Appointments and Commissions to VA Faith and Community Advisory Council, Fredericksburg City Planning Commission, VA Governor’s Advisory Board for Volunteerism and Community Service, and the VA Family and Fatherhood Consortium Steering Committee.
During his service, Bishop Henderson has received many honors and awards. Some of his Honors and Awards include: Commendation for Outstanding Leadership and Community Service, State of VA, Community Service Award, Shiloh Community Service Corporation, Positive Image Award for Outstanding Community Service, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award, and FBI Directors Community Leadership Award.
Bishop Henderson continues to be a leading voice of innovation and inspiration in his pursuit of Kingdom Order and Excellence as a preacher, teacher, keynote speaker, conference host, workshop presenter, ministry coach, and spiritual leader.
As one who is highly respected by many, Bishop Henderson, an anointed man, one who humbly walks with power, truly has a heart for serving the Kingdom of God. His desire for ministry is one of excellence, empowering and developing the people of God to serve with humility and integrity the kingdom, being decent and in order. He is recognized for preaching and teaching sound doctrine, life changing messages that inspire, develop, and govern the Kingdom of God. He remains a faithful servant, a student of the word of God, one positioned, called, and well-equipped to lead a generation in the ways of truth, awakening a people developing a kingdom mindset, embracing kingdom principles, and living a kingdom life.
